One of the pleasures of reading books on travel is the vicarious journey that they take the reader on. It is because of this that travel writing has been a genre that interests many. This travelogue on Ladakh is an addition to the genre, taking the reader on a journey, revealing facets of the fascinating land of Ladakh. Sonali Chanda begins by referring to the Moroccan world traveller Ibn Batuta in her Introduction to this book. Ibn Batuta, she notes, once said while visiting the Indian subcontinent that "Travelling - it leaves you speechless, then turns you into a storyteller".
